Discover the Journey of Ian Golightly

Brick By Brick.

I’ve never believed in overnight success. Everything meaningful in my life has been built slowly, intentionally, and with my own two hands—brick by brick. From navigating a childhood filled with constant change, to grinding through school, to building a business from nothing but an idea and determination, I’ve learned that progress is made in small, consistent steps. Each choice, each challenge, each moment of growth becomes another brick in the foundation of who you’re becoming. My journey is proof that you don’t need to have everything figured out—you just need the courage to lay the next brick.

Ian Golightly

I’ve always believed that where you begin doesn’t have to dictate where you end up. My story starts in 1987, long before I ever thought about entrepreneurship, healthcare, or building anything from the ground up. I was born to a Filipino mother who ran away from home in search of a better life, and a German father who served as a Senior Master Sergeant in the Air Force and opened several bars around the base he was stationed at. Their worlds couldn’t have been more different, yet somehow they found their way to each other—and eventually, to me.

When I was just a year and a half old, my father sold all the bars and made a life-changing decision: we would immigrate to the United States. That choice shaped everything that came after. I grew up in California, a place with vibrant culture but also major contrasts—wealth beside struggle, stability beside chaos. By the time I was in second grade, my parents split up, and life became a constant cycle of packing, unpacking, and learning how to adapt on the fly. I bounced between California, Illinois, and a handful of other states, switching school systems so often that “starting over” became second nature.

School wasn’t always smooth for me. My first two years of high school were filled with mediocre grades and a feeling that I was capable of more but somehow couldn’t access it. Everything shifted during my last two years when I attended a new school with completely different demographics—middle to upper class, academically driven, and filled with students whose expectations for themselves were simply higher. That experience taught me one of the most important lessons of my life: environment shapes performance. Put yourself around people who expect more of themselves, and you naturally elevate. It was a mindset shift that would quietly guide nearly every decision I made as an adult.

In 2013 I graduated from Illinois State University. It wasn’t the smoothest path—I didn’t walk in knowing exactly what I wanted to do, and like many people in their early twenties, I had to stumble through uncertainty to find my direction. But I finished strong, earning my bachelor’s degree along with two minors. Later, in 2018, I pushed myself further and earned my Executive MBA. Education wasn’t just about credentials for me—it was about proving to myself that I could grow, evolve, and rise to any challenge I committed to.

By 2023, I had spent a full decade in the healthcare sector. It’s a field that teaches you resilience, patience, and how to work under pressure—skills I didn’t know would eventually serve me in a completely different industry. That same year, I made one of the boldest moves of my life: I decided to start my own business. And not just with anyone—with my best friend since elementary school. Together, we launched GG Property Solutions, stepping into the world of real estate and construction consulting.

Within the first three months, we landed our first six-figure contract. It was confirmation that we were on the right path. GG Property Solutions eventually evolved into a construction consulting agency that specializes in managing CapEx projects, primarily for private equity firms in the manufactured housing sector. We found a gap between operations and technical project execution, and we filled it. What started as two childhood friends trying something new became a company trusted to oversee projects that directly impact community value, safety, and long-term sustainability. The rest is history—and history is still being written.

As I continue into the next chapters of my life, my focus is clear: keep building. Not just businesses, but connections. Relationships. Opportunities. A life that reflects the values I’ve learned through every move, every transition, every win and setback. I want to meet new people, collaborate with those who are forging their own paths, and inspire others to push beyond the limitations of their environment—just like I did.

If my story resonates with you, even in a small way, I hope you stick around. Follow along. Reach out. Share your story. Whether you’re here because you’re navigating your own transition, trying to build something meaningful, or simply looking for inspiration, just know this—I’ve been there. And I’m still building, just like you.

This is just the beginning.

Making a Difference

What matters most to me now is using my journey to empower others. I know what it feels like to search for direction, to rebuild yourself, to start from scratch more than once. That’s why connection isn’t just important to me—it’s part of my mission. I want to create a space where people feel seen, supported, and inspired to chase the version of life they truly want. If my experiences can help someone take the first step, make a bold decision, or simply realize they’re not alone in their process, then everything I’ve built means something far greater than personal success. My purpose is to lift as I climb—one relationship, one conversation, and one story at a time.
